With the general election looming this month, charity managers and trustees should be wary of a few things, especially if your organisation has a campaigning remit or works closely with the public sector.
The Charity Commission has produced some good information online, the starting point is at this link.
NCVO write an interesting narrative at this link too.
These give some important perspectives and I recommend the commission’s material in particular.
Fundamentally, the political independence of the charity sector should be protected. Sounds simple, but there are many traps for an unwary trustee or an ill-informed charity comms department. My advice is to err always on the side of caution of there is any doubt.
